RickF1Racing: ¡Qué tal, comunidad! Bienvenidos a una nueva entrega de nuestro Driver Spotlight. Hoy tenemos el placer de charlar con un piloto que es pura constancia y técnica. Desde Bulgaria, fundador de la liga BGR y un referente en la pista desde 2019: Anton "Atmos" Ivanov.
Anton, hermano, bienvenido. Vamos a desglosar qué hay detrás de tu ritmo y tu mentalidad.
🛠️ SECCIÓN 1: TÉCNICA Y RENDIMIENTO
RickF1Racing: Muchos pilotos me preguntan en el blog por dónde empezar para ser competitivos. Tú tienes una opinión muy firme sobre el equipo inicial. ¿Cuál es el error "clásico" que ves en los novatos?
Anton: Para mí, el error más común es invertir demasiado dinero en equipo caro demasiado pronto. No me malentiendas, el hardware ayuda, pero al principio no necesitas lo más costoso. Primero hay que desarrollar las manos.
RickF1Racing: Totalmente. Hablando de manos, el trail braking es un tema que siempre tocamos aquí. ¿Cómo cambió tu pace cuando lo masterizaste?
Anton: Si te soy honesto, ¡aún no lo he masterizado! Sigo luchando con el tema de quitar el ABS y admito que a veces no tengo la paciencia necesaria para ello, pero sigo trabajando en ello.
RickF1Racing: Es una técnica que requiere tiempo, sin duda. Ahora, en circuitos como Singapur o Mónaco, que son tus favoritos, ¿cómo cambia tu enfoque respecto a un circuito tradicional?
Anton: Son mis favoritos porque exigen todo. En los urbanos trato de practicar el doble y mantener la concentración al 100%, porque un solo error y estás fuera de la carrera.
RickF1Racing: Y para esos momentos donde un piloto siente que se ha "estancado" y no baja sus tiempos, ¿qué consejo le das?
Anton: Por experiencia propia: cuando paso horas intentando mejorar y nada funciona, me detengo 5 minutos. Me calmo, pienso en otra cosa, me olvido de la pista y vuelvo. Generalmente, ahí es cuando llegan los resultados.
🧠 SECCIÓN 2: MENTALIDAD DE CARRERA
RickF1Racing: La clasificación a una sola vuelta es pura presión. ¿Cómo la gestionas tú?
Anton: Intento ignorar todo lo que me rodea, aunque siendo sincero, la qualy no es mi punto más fuerte.
RickF1Racing: ¿Y el famoso "reset" mental? Si tienes un incidente en la salida, ¿cómo te mantienes en carrera?
Anton: Es de lo más difícil. Si no hay daños, me recupero rápido. Pero si el coche está tocado, trato de calmar mi respiración lo antes posible y no rendirme; al final, queda mucha carrera por delante.
RickF1Racing: Eso requiere mucha preparación. ¿Cuántas horas consideras necesarias antes de una carrera de liga?
Anton: Si el circuito me gusta, unas 3 o 4 horas. Pero si es una pista que no me gusta o donde soy lento, puedo pasar más de 5 horas practicando. Esa preparación me ayuda mucho a manejar la fatiga mental en carreras largas, además del apoyo de mi comunidad en los streams, que siempre mantienen un ambiente positivo.
⚙️ SECCIÓN 3: HARDWARE Y SETUP
RickF1Racing: Hablemos de "fierros". ¿Pedales o Volante? ¿Qué importa más para la consistencia?
Anton: Hace poco se me rompieron mis pedales principales y usé unos más básicos. Mis tiempos eran iguales, pero al recuperar los buenos, noté que tenía mucho mejor control del acelerador en las salidas de curva. Los pedales marcan la diferencia.
RickF1Racing: En el setup del coche, ¿eres de los que sacrifica velocidad punta por estabilidad en curva?
Anton: Prefiero estabilidad. Aunque últimamente me toca adaptarme porque muchos pilotos están usando alas muy bajas y tengo que ajustar mi estilo natural para poder competirles.
RickF1Racing: ¿Y el salto al cockpit rígido?
Anton: Es un game changer. Se lo recomiendo a cualquiera que tenga la oportunidad.
🌟 SECCIÓN 4: PERSONAL INSIGHTS (CONOCIENDO A ANTON)
RickF1Racing: Tu nickname, BGR_atmos, tiene historia. ¿Cómo nació?
Anton: Viene de mi adolescencia; me gustaba mucho un DJ llamado Atmos. Luego, cuando creé mi propia liga búlgara (BGR), simplemente lo uní y así se formó el nombre.
RickF1Racing: Fuera del sim, sabemos que eres una persona muy activa. ¿Qué haces cuando no estás en el cockpit?
Anton: Amo entrenar. Hago deporte desde los 5 años y es algo que me hace feliz. También me gusta caminar y, por supuesto, conducir en la vida real.
RickF1Racing: Si miramos a la F1 real, ¿quiénes son tus referentes?
Anton: Admiro a varios: Kimi Räikkönen, Alonso, Vettel y Leclerc. Y por supuesto, leyendas como Senna y Schumacher.
RickF1Racing: Para cerrar, Anton, el garaje de tus sueños: ¿qué coche de la historia conducirías en la vida real?
Anton: Un Fórmula 1 con motor V10. Sin duda.

RickF1Racing: What’s up, community! Welcome to another edition of our Driver Spotlight. Today, we’re sitting down with a driver who embodies consistency and technical discipline. Hailing from Bulgaria, founder of the BGR league, and a staple on the grid since 2019: Anton "Atmos" Ivanov.
Anton, glad to have you here, brother. Let’s dive into the mindset and the mechanics behind your pace.
🛠️ SECTION 1: TECHNICAL & PERFORMANCE
RickF1Racing: Anton, a lot of guys follow the blog asking how to make the leap to competitive racing. You have a very firm stance on gear. What’s the most common "rookie mistake" you see regarding hardware?
Anton: For me, the biggest mistake is drivers investing a lot of money into expensive equipment too early. Don’t get me wrong—better gear can improve your pace, but in the beginning, there’s no need for the most expensive setup. You need to develop your "hands" before you open your wallet.
RickF1Racing: Spot on. Speaking of technique, trail braking is a massive topic on my blog. How did your lap times change once you mastered it?
Anton: To be honest, I still haven’t fully mastered it! I’m still struggling with removing ABS, and I have to admit—I don’t always have the patience for it. It’s a work in progress.
RickF1Racing: It’s an art form, no doubt. Now, on street circuits like Singapore or Monaco—which I know are your favorites—how do you adjust your driving style compared to a permanent track?
Anton: Those are my favorites because they demand everything. On street circuits, I try to practice twice as much and maintain 100% concentration, because one mistake means you’re out of the race. There is zero margin for error.
RickF1Racing: For those drivers who feel they’ve hit a "plateau" and can’t find those extra tenths, what’s your advice?
Anton: From personal experience: when I spend hours trying to improve and nothing works, I just stop for five minutes. I calm down, think about something else, forget the track for a moment, and then go back—usually, that’s when the results finally come.
🧠 SECTION 2: RACE MENTALITY
RickF1Racing: Qualifying pressure is real—one shot, no mistakes. How do you handle that mental load?
Anton: I usually try to ignore everything around me and get in the zone. But to be honest, qualifying is not my strongest area; I’m more of a race-pace guy.
RickF1Racing: What about the "reset" button? If you get caught in a Lap 1 incident, how do you keep your head in the game?
Anton: This is one of the hardest things for me. If there’s no damage to the car, I recover quickly. But if there is damage, I try to calm my breathing as fast as possible and not give up—after all, there’s still a whole race ahead.
RickF1Racing: That resilience takes preparation. How many hours of practice do you consider necessary before a league race?
Anton: If the track is a favorite, no more than 3–4 hours. But if it’s a track I don’t like and I’m slow on it, I can spend more than 5 hours practicing. That preparation helps me handle mental fatigue, plus having loyal followers on my stream keeps me entertained and motivated with positive vibes during the long stints.
⚙️ SECTION 3: HARDWARE & SETUP
RickF1Racing: Let's talk gear. Pedals vs. Wheelbase: which one is more critical for consistency?
Anton: That’s a great question. Recently, my high-end pedals broke, and I had to use an older, lower-tier set. My lap times stayed the same, but when I got the better pedals back, I realized I had much better throttle control on corner exits. So for me, pedals make a huge difference.
RickF1Racing: When it comes to car setup, do you prefer sacrificing top speed for corner stability?
Anton: I definitely prefer more stability in the corners. However, I’ve noticed lately that many drivers are running very low wing setups, so I’ve had to adapt and drive in a way that isn’t typical for me just to stay competitive.
🌟 SECTION 4: PERSONAL INSIGHTS
RickF1Racing: Your nickname, BGR_atmos, has been around for a long time. What’s the story behind it?
Anton: It goes back to my teenage years. I really liked a DJ named Atmos. Later, when I created my own Bulgarian league (BGR), I decided to add it in front of "Atmos," and that’s how the name was born.
RickF1Racing: Outside of the sim, you’re a very active guy. What are your passions when you aren't in the cockpit?
Anton: I love training and staying active. I’ve been involved in sports since I was 5 years old, and it truly makes me happy. I also enjoy going for walks and, of course, driving in real life.
RickF1Racing: Looking at real-world motorsport, who are the idols that inspire your driving?
Anton: I don’t have just one. I admire several drivers like Kimi Räikkönen, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, and Charles Leclerc. Of course, we can’t forget legends like Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher.
RickF1Racing: To wrap this up, let’s talk about your "Dream Garage." If you could drive any race car from history in real life, which one would it be?
Anton: I would love to drive a Formula 1 car with a V10 engine. That sound is everything.
RickF1Racing: The V10 scream... nothing beats it! And for the perfect circuit, you gave us a brutal combination: Sector 1 of Suzuka, Sector 2 of Spa, and Sector 3 of Zandvoort. Anton, it’s been a pleasure, brother. Thanks for sharing your journey with the RickF1Racing community.
